Priceline.com, an online travel site, is Ocean Media's most well known story. When Ocean Media first met with Priceline.com, the business was in its infancy stage. The client needed to accomplish two goals with their advertising. The goals were to create consumer awareness and increase visibility within the financial community. We showed Priceline.com that this could be accomplished for far less than other agencies were proposing. Ocean Media created the marketing plan for Priceline.com that encompassed short and long-term goals. For example, to create a national buzz, the early point levels were extremely high. We chose to launch the campaign with network radio and television was not brought into the mix until the second year. This was done to keep costs down while still making Priceline.com a household name.

Priceline.com was branded nationally faster than any other company in history. The Brand Institute, an independent marketing company, noted our success in helping "Priceline.com achieve awareness of 62.5 million customers in only 150 days of its April, 1998 launch." This was done intentionally due to anticipated competition from subsequently developed travel sites. In addition, USA Today cited us for creating "Priceline.com as the second most recognizable electronic commerce brand" in their first year.
The partnership is almost ten years old and we continue to work successfully within the competitive travel category.
